Google Vids Adds Gemini Omni Editing and Personal Avatars

Enterprise video production is becoming easier, but synthetic likeness and generated edits create new approval and recordkeeping responsibilities.

What happened

Google announced two Google Vids features: Gemini Omni for generating and editing clips with natural-language prompts and image references, and personal avatars created from a selfie and voice recording. Google states that AI-generated clips include digital watermarking intended to support transparency.

Why it matters for enterprise leaders

Teams can reduce production effort for training, internal communications, and localized content, but should not treat generated video like ordinary slide automation. Policies should address who may create an avatar, consent and revocation, acceptable contexts, brand review, disclosure, source asset rights, retention, and the risk that a realistic executive or employee likeness is reused outside its intended purpose. Watermarking helps but does not replace organizational controls.

Questions to take into your next leadership discussion

  • Who owns and may reuse an employee’s avatar?
  • When must audiences be told content is synthetic?
  • What approvals apply to external or regulated communications?
